The fair-use rules for Pricesweep.
Plain-English terms that cover what we do, what you agree to, and the limits on either side. By using Pricesweep you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the service.
Who we are
Pricesweep is a price-checking tool operated as a personal project by an individual based in the United Kingdom (not a registered company). The service lives at pricesweep.co.uk. Contact us via the contact form.
What the service does
Pricesweep helps you identify resellable second-hand items from a photo or barcode and looks up reference prices from CEX UK (the primary source) and recent eBay UK sold listings (for CEX-matched items, verified by barcode). The prices are estimates for guidance, not guarantees of what an item will sell for or what we'd pay to buy it. Markets move; price data can be wrong, out of date, or absent for niche items.
For items CEX doesn't catalogue, Pricesweep shows a "scan the barcode" prompt rather than guessing. We'd rather show no price than a wrong one. You can still get an eBay price for any item by scanning its barcode.
We don't buy or sell anything ourselves. We don't broker transactions. Any decision to sell, donate, or hold onto an item is yours; we don't accept responsibility for the outcome.
Your account
You must be at least 16 years old to use Pricesweep. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe and for any activity on your account. If you suspect someone else is using your account, contact us right away and we'll reset access.
Don't sign up using someone else's email, and don't create multiple accounts to dodge the free-tier limits.
Subscriptions and payments
Paid plans (Pro at £6.99 / month, Power Seller at £14.99 / month) are billed monthly through Stripe. By subscribing you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method until you cancel.
Cancel any time from the profile menu in the app. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Mid-month upgrades (Pro → Power Seller, etc.) are prorated automatically by Stripe, so you only pay the difference.
We don't offer refunds for partial months. If you've been charged in error or believe there's been a billing mistake, message us via the contact form and we'll sort it out.
Fair use
The Power Seller plan advertises "unlimited" scans, which means "unlimited for a busy reseller running normal volume". If a single account consistently scans far beyond that (think hundreds of scans a day, sustained), we may apply a fair-use limit. We'll always reach out first to discuss a custom plan rather than cut you off without warning.
Don't use Pricesweep to send automated traffic, scrape the API, or otherwise abuse the service. We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.
Our service, your content
The Pricesweep app, its design, its code, and the wordmark are ours. You can't copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the service.
Any photos you upload and any items you add to your saved list stay yours. We use them to provide the service and don't sell or share them with third parties beyond what's covered in the privacy notice. If you opt in to send a "bad match" photo for model improvement, the same applies to that.
Third-party data and brands
Pricesweep displays reference prices fetched from third-party sources to help you make resale decisions. Pricesweep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of the services we look up against. In particular: CEX™, webuy.com™ and related marks are trademarks of CEX Ltd; eBay™ is a trademark of eBay Inc; OpenAI™ is a trademark of OpenAI Inc; Stripe™ is a trademark of Stripe Inc.
All product titles, descriptions, barcodes, and prices we display remain the property of their respective owners. We display them under fair-use principles for the purpose of price comparison, and we cache them only as long as needed to make the service responsive. Pricing data updates frequently; what you see in Pricesweep may differ from what the source displays at any given moment.
No warranty
The service is provided as-is. We make no warranty that prices will be accurate, that identification will be correct, that uptime will be 100%, or that any specific feature will keep working forever. Third-party services we rely on (OpenAI, CEX, eBay, Stripe) can change or break without notice and may interrupt Pricesweep when they do.
Nothing in Pricesweep constitutes financial, legal, or professional advice. It's a tool for ballpark prices, not a valuation report.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Pricesweep is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses (lost profits on a resale, etc.) or for the actions of third-party services.
Nothing in these terms removes statutory rights you have as a consumer in the UK.
Termination
You can stop using Pricesweep at any time. From the profile menu you can cancel a subscription and delete your account; deletion removes your saved list, your daily-scan counter, and any record of you from our database immediately. Stripe customer records are deleted via the Stripe API at the same time.
We can suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms (fraud, abuse, automated misuse). We'll explain why if we do.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally to reflect new features or changes in the law. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll show a notice in the app or email you. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you don't, cancel your account and we'll part ways amicably.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.
